After Breast Cancer – Healthy Eating and Supplements

Nothing can prepare you for the news that you have breast cancer and 4 years on I still can’t believe what has happened to me but I do know one thing; I’m very lucky to have come through it. The cancer didn’t beat me and after chemotherapy, radiotherapy, an operation and medication I can still make small changes in my life to keep cancer at bay.
It was just after my treatment finished that I started reading books and attending seminars about the natural ways to prevent and heal cancer so that I feel that I’m doing ‘something’ to stop it from happening again. I’m no medical expert, or even in the medical profession so I don’t claim to be a cancer guru, but I thought I’d share my findings on what I’m doing in my new life without cancer and how you can include these little things into your diet.
So whether you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, had a scare or just want to learn how to keep your body healthy, these tips and suggestions about making small changes to your diet are really simple and you don’t need to have to have a lifestyle revolution to eat healthy!
Foods packed with Antioxidants
Antioxidants protect your cells and lower your risk of cancers, they’re found in most foods however it’s knowing which foods contain the highest levels. Try to include a little bit of the following foods every day as they’re PACKED with antioxidants:
Beetroot is one of the key foods in preventing cancer. The purple pigment has been shown to increase and normalise cell respiration – what I was told is that it helps to clone healthy cells only, so even if you had a tumour, it couldn’t multiply as the beetroot encourages only good cells to grow.
I’ve bought beetroot capsules, which are good if you’re not a fan of eating beetroot!
Chia seeds claim to be one of the most powerful, functional and nutritious super foods in the world!
They’re full of:
Antioxidants – apparently the highest antioxidant activity of any whole food!
…and is the richest known plant source of omega-3!
Plus they keep blood pressure and blood sugar under control.
Pumpkins are a super anti-cancer food. One half cup of cooked pumpkin has over five times your quota for beta-carotene (Vitamin A0) per day. According to research at Tufts University it may be used to protect against many cancers.
Salvestrols exist naturally in fruits, vegetables and herbs however you need to eat organic produce to reap their benefits. Apparently they’re like having a Police force in your body by transforming into chemical weapons that can kill cancer cells without affecting healthy cells. You can buy Salvestrols in tablet form, I take 1 a day.
There are also a number of powdered grasses that you can buy where you just add a spoonful of the powder to a glass of water and drink. However there are so many of them on the market that I wouldn’t know which one to recommend, so I’d suggest going to a health food shop and asking them to advise you. They’re great as they have high chlorophyll content which helps build healthy blood, transfer oxygen throughout the body whilst being full of nutrients, which help heal and regenerate the body.
The green powder formula can taste quite unpleasant so its best to either shoot it back or as I did, pour into a cocktail glass to make it at least look better!
Or why not investing in a juicer, it’s a great way to take in extra vitamins from fruit and vegetables.
Try experimenting with different ingredients and if in doubt, add an apple, as it seems to make every juice I’ve ever had taste great!
